ARGENTINA
Pampas Bar and Grill is an Argentinean steak house that sits off the 163 Freeway below Montgomery Airport, and boasts some of the best steak found here in San Diego. Its owners, The Hidalgos, hail from a lineage of Argentinean restaurateurs and hold many renowned awards and recognitions for their prestigious cuisine. The Hidalgos are avid soccer fans and promise to show support by only showing the Argentina matches.
AUSTRALIA
Australian Pub mixes margaritas and mimosas a few blocks from the Pacific Beach surf, and is the World Cup scene for any true “Aussie football” fan.
ENGLAND
Princess Pub and Grille, in the heart of Little Italy, will be a popular destination for this year’s competition. Capacity is 129 people, with nine TV’s, and is expected to fill up fast. A large majority of the games for the World Cup will be shown here, and England and Mexico games will be ticketed.
Shakespeare Pub and Grille is a British pub sure to draw a bulk of English soccer extremists. The bar will be charging $10 admission to your tab and capacity will be reached, so be sure to arrive early!
GERMANY
Kaiserhof is a German restaurant along Sunset Cliffs where bratwurst, beer and football are catered throughout the bar. All of the German World Cup games will be shown here, except for the early morning 4 am games.
IRELAND
What? Even though Ireland controversially lost to France’s national team and failed to succeed in the World Cup Qualifiers, The Field Pub and Restaurant downtown will be showing a majority of World Cup games. The pub holds seven TV’s, a pull down projector, and will be serving Happy Hour during the games. Everyone is welcome!
ITALY
Sprint over to Café Calabria and get your picture taken with life-sized cutouts of Italy’s national team. This Italian café will be serving their normal favorites of sandwiches and pastries, sporting Italian jerseys and showing all games live on their six TV’s.
MEXICO
Fiesta Hall in Imperial Beach is usually home to weddings, birthdays and graduation parties. This year, the hall has found itself on several major blog lists as a top place in the US to watch the World Cup. The venue plans to show all of Mexico’s games, including the opener against South Africa.
PORTUGAL
Joao’s Tin Fish Bar and Eatery is a bona fide Portuguese Sea Food Restaurant located inside the Liberty Station complex of Point Loma, and welcomes all Portugal fans.
SPAIN
Costa Brava is a Spanish tapas bar and restaurant in Pacific Beach. The restaurant shows games on its’ six 42-inch plasma TV’s and one full-screen projector. They will also offer Spanish-style “chocolate churros” for early morning games.
USA
O’Brien’s Pub will be taping every single game during the first round of the tournament and replaying the early games during lunch. The pub will be open early and serving breakfast for all US games on five HD TV’s. If you’re around when the US grabs a win, a bell is rung and a three-yard glass if filled and sent around the entire bar, so everyone can sample the sweet taste of victory.
