Van Morrison, one of the most enigmatic legends in rock history, is returning to San Diego for his first area concert in 37 years.
The Irish singer-songwriter and his latest band will perform October 6th at the Civic Theatre in downtown San Diego, in what will be Morrison’s first area appearance since a late 1973 concert at the San Diego Sports Arena. Over the years, Morrison has received lucrative offers to perform here, but these offers were summarily rejected…until now.
Tickets for the Civic Theatre event will go on sale August 14th at the venue’s box office and via Ticketmaster’s Website and charge lines (800-745-3000). Ticket prices range from $90 to $350.
Morrison, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, last performed in Southern California in 2008, when he played two consecutive concerts at the nearly 18,000 capacity Hollywood Bowl. His music, which draws equally from blues, jazz, rock, soul, country and Celtic, often has an intensely spiritual quality.
