Petco Park San Diego Padres

One of the joys of staying at the Sofia Hotel is the proximity to spectacular Petco Park, home of the mighty San Diego Padres.

And it’s time once again to “root, root, root for the home team” as our beloved Pads prepare to play an exciting string of games under Petco Park’s bright lights. Come be a part of the action—and make an elegant room at the Sofia your home away from home while you do!

Petco Park

The Sofia Hotel’s only about a mile northwest of the baseball stadium, which is set off Park Boulevard not far from the Embarcadero. Petco Park is one of the country’s most impressive ballparks, a grand open-air masterpiece that hosted its first game in 2004.

Few stadiums treat fans to such a magnificent view from the stands: When you’re not obsessed with the action on the diamond, you can gaze out toward San Diego Bay and the proud city skyline. The broad “Park at the Park” above the outfield, meanwhile, offers dirt-cheap seats for games and a treasured greenspace year-round. Such design features and the stadium’s color scheme—which reflects San Diego’s incomparable environmental setting (from the deep blue of the Pacific to the tawny beaches)—nestle Petco Park seamlessly into its surroundings.

Catch a Dramatic Home Game

The Padres are facing down a trio of formidable opponents in a string of mid-April home games, promising a lot of Petco Park drama for anyone lucky enough to be rooming at the Sofia this month.

From April 11 through 13, the Pads host the Detroit Tigers. Then, from the 14th through the 17th, they’re squaring off against the Colorado Rockies. The stint at home ends with games against the San Francisco Giants on April 18, 19, and 20.

Bats will be cracking, outfielders will be leaping, and the Swinging Friar will be doing what he does best to support the home team.

And you could be in the stands, just minutes from your hotel room, enjoying a fantastic ball game on a warm spring evening in San Diego. What exactly could be better than that?
